About Me
Caitlin from an early age has been interested with cars and speed, she watched her dad race saloon cars for most of her younger years, and the interest grew and she got her first kart, a cadet kart, that she got on her tenth birthday but she only went out a few practise days with her dad.
At the age of thirteen July 2017 she had her first race in a Subaru kart at Bayford Meadows kart track with the GMS Kart team, it was obvious from that race she had a passion for this.
Caitlin started her first season in Subaru karts with some outstanding pace and the talent was starting to show with the help of the GMS kart team, She finished her first year at Bayford Meadows 8th out of 36 drivers in the championship and was acknowledged as an up and coming driver.
In 2019 Caitlin made the jump to Junior Rotax 125 two-stroke karts, with the great help and advice from the GMS Kart team, she loved the power of the Rotax kart and it was not long in her second season racing that the wins were coming in.
After many race wins and top 3 positions Caitlin won the Bayford meadows championship in only her second year at racing against a far more experience field of 30 plus drivers.
Caitlin also raced in the Kent cup that took us to Lydd Kart track and Bayford where again she showed much more experience drivers that she was there to win, Caitlin ended up 3rd in this championship but the first driver who was using their tyres for the club meeting as well as the kent cup, this was the rules in 2019.
At the awards night, Caitlin received her trophies and to top the evening of she was awarded driver of the year, the first female in the history of the club.
This has helped Caitlin to win some sponsors:
- Fenner Paper
- Southside Water Jet
- Naos Floors
- Stone Floor Refurbishment
From November 2019, Caitlin has been testing at PFI Kart track Forest Edge Kart track Mansell Kart track Clay Pigeon Kart track showing great pace ready for 2020 British Kart Championship, But this was to be put on hold due to COVID.
While in lockdown we talked a lot about where to go forward with Caitlin, we were very lucky that Groombridge Place in Sussex allowed Caitlin to practice in a field with a small car getting used to the clutch and gear change etc.
This lead to Scott Read from Julian Godfrey Engineering mentioning Junior Swift rallycross. We purchased a car and with Scotts contacts, we now have a driver coach Graham Rodemark, who is Kevin Hannsen coach, and we also have Julian Godfrey, a multiple British champion in rallycross, as her mentor.
We also have a head mechanic, Chloe, so an all-girl team is being formed for the 2021 British Rallycross season. Updates will be posted soon on the progress on this exciting opportunity.
As for 2020, Caitlin is racing in the British Kart Championship, Bayford Meadows, and one-off special events. Any spare time she spends practising for the Swift championship.
